Chapel Hill’s Flooding Problem

CHALT volunteers documented the damage from Florence to our local businesses.

See video of “Eastgate Crossing” flooding. All Eastgate businesses were affected with from 1″ to 3.5 feet of floodwater inside the stores from the hurricane. Some stores reopened within a day or so, but many lost at least 7 business days, and some did not reopen.

We interviewed Eastgate businesses just after the flood. Here’s what they reported: Eastgate-Florence-Damage-Data
